Understanding 10DLCs in VisitorReach
As part of the onboarding process, each church using VisitorReach is assigned a unique 10DLC (10-Digit Long Code).
What is a 10DLC?
A 10DLC is a standard 10-digit phone number used specifically for application-to-person (A2P) messaging. In VisitorReach, each church receives its own dedicated 10DLC number. This number is used exclusively for messaging through the VisitorReach platform.
Key Details
- Unique to Each Church: Every church is assigned a unique 10-digit number as part of their VisitorReach setup. This number is used to send and receive text messages within the platform.
 - Regionally Matched Area Codes: The 10DLC will have an area code that matches the church’s local region. This helps recipients recognize the message as local, increasing the likelihood of engagement.
 - Exclusive to VisitorReach: The 10DLC is not required or used outside of the VisitorReach platform. Churches do not need to manage or use this number in any other messaging apps or services.
 - We will apply for you: VisitorReach applies for your local phone number and sets it up prior to going live. All you need to do is provide necessary information during your onboarding process, such as your EIN (Employer Identification Number) and legal business name.

Why Use 10DLC Instead of a Toll-Free Number?
Unlike generic 1-800 numbers, a 10DLC with a local area code:
- Appears more personal and trustworthy to recipients
 - Reduces the chance of messages being marked as spam
 - Increases open and response rates by establishing familiarity
