GENERAL

What is the benefit of a VisitorReach Subscription vs a VisitorTap Stand-alone subscription?

VisitorTap is included with every VisitorReach Subscription (so no need for two services). VisitorReach subscription expands your tools to allow every tap to become a conversation. When someone taps a VisitorTap card, personalized follow-up and automated guest workflows instantly begin a text or email conversation on the VisitorReach app.

While VisitorTap is perfect for churches that want a simple way to connect guests to next steps using NFC-enabled cards, a VisitorReach subscription moves from engagement to outreach by including digital marketing services.  Our team of marketing experts puts your church in front of the right people online in a way that looks, sounds, and feels like your church. Initiating conversations via text in the app that nurture seekers to the front door of your church.

If you’re ready to meaningfully engage with your community, VisitorReach is the upgrade that helps you reach, connect and assimilate people.

How are Tap Cards better than QR codes?

Tap technology (NFC) outperforms QR codes for every measurement of engagement (from giving to sign-ups) due to its ease of use, speed, and security. Tap technology offers a "tap and go" experience, requiring no special apps or camera alignment, making it more intuitive and convenient than scanning a QR code. Tap cards are also more flexible as you can change links in the VisitorReach dashboard without having to print new QR codes every time a link changes. You can also change the links in real-time based on who is in the room. For example, one link for Sunday services and a different link for your Men’s event or Pastors Conference.

Does it matter what giving platform my church uses?

No!  Your church can connect to any giving platform you prefer. VisitorTap easily integrates with any systems you have set-up for giving, assimilation, event registrations, or volunteer scheduling. If you ever decide to switch out services, simply  update the link in your dashboard and you’re all set!

Can I use Tap to support our multiple church ministries?

Absolutely. You can order cards for youth, kids, small groups, or any other ministry. You can purchase decks of 100 or individual table stands under your main account. Each deck can point to its own customized Taptree, giving you ministry-specific engagement with one unified system. It’s a great way to extend the tool across different teams while keeping everything streamlined.

Do I need Tap cards on every seat in the Sanctuary?

We recommend a Tap Card on every chair of a church sanctuary. This helps to avoid the potential awkwardness of a guest needing to reach across a person next to them to access. It also allows you to avoid worrying about placement if your chairs are ever re-organized.

We also recommend that tap products be placed in your Guest Connect area, Kids Check-in, Lobby, as part of a membership class or as a follow-up to outreach events (such as Easter egg hunt, Christmas Toy drive, etc)

Can I move the Tap products I already have to the VisitorReach Dashboard?

No, the VisitorReach Dashboard only works with official VisitorReach Tap Cards. Cards from other companies are locked to their original platforms and can’t be transferred. This locking is a security feature that helps prevent tampering or unauthorized access.

What if I want to change where the Tap takes people?

It’s easy! You can update your links anytime in the VisitorReach Dashboard even in real time during a service. Changes are instant, so you can swap out links as announcements or priorities shift. Most churches use a Taptree (a landing page with a menu of links) to keep everything in one place—like event sign-ups, online giving, and guest connect cards.

Where should I direct people after they tap?

You can direct people wherever best supports their next step with your church. This might be a single action, such as visiting your church website, filling out a digital guest connect card or accessing your online giving app.

If you’d like to offer more options, you can easily create a menu of links using the built-in Taptree tool in your VisitorReach Dashboard. Customize your Taptree with as many links as you need- like sermon notes, giving option, prayer request form, or calendar of upcoming events. You can update these links anytime, and changes go live instantly, even during a service.

How are Tap Cards divided?

All Tap cards are organized in decks of 100. You can assign a different URL to each group if needed. For example, if you have 500 cards, they’ll be split into five groups. If you want the first 200 cards to go to one URL, you would assign that link to two groups. If you want the remaining 300 to go somewhere else, you would assign the second URL to the other three groups.

How fast can I implement Tap in my church?

Tap products can arrive at your church as quickly as 7 days! Simply choose one of our standard ready-to-ship options available: Vinyl Round with Adhesive, Acrylic Card without adhesive, Table Stand and Acrylic Loop.

Each one of these products is offered in both black or white. If you choose to customize any of these products, the delivery time is 8 weeks. You can find out more information about customization here.

Where are other places we can use Tap products outside the sanctuary?

Tap products can be placed in your New Guest Connect area, Kids area, Lobby Cafe, as part of a membership class, and as follow-up to outreach events (such as Fall Festival, Easter egg hunt, Christmas, etc).

How can we keep track of which tap products are placed in different areas of our church?

We recognize that churches need clarity and control when managing tap technology throughout multiple environments. While some platforms may not offer any way to distinguish between products (no product ID or field labeling), VisitorTap gives you clear batch numbers printed on the products when you order your products. This means if you find a misplaced product due to accidental removal, you’ll be able to identify its proper location by matching the number printed on the product with the location of the batch in your VisitorReach dashboard.

To be able to identify its location even faster we recommend labeling cards by location and color/shape. For example: “Sanctuary – Black Round” or “Lobby – White Round.” This makes it easier to spot and match products in both physical spaces and your dashboard.

How many logins can we have?

VisitorTap is simple. You only need one shared login for your entire team—no extra setup, no complicated permissions. Just share the login with anyone who needs access. If another login is needed then send a request to visitortap@visitorreach.com and we’ll be happy to help.

PRICES

What is the cost compared to other tap products?

VisitorTap is the most affordable tap solution for churches on the market. While other options range from $3 to as much as $32 per product, VisitorTap products start at just $2. Our quick ship options make it easy for churches to get started right away.

Will the price go up after a certain amount of time?

We guarantee pricing for a full year.  Right now, we have no plans to raise the price. We are committed to keeping VisitorReach one of the most affordable and value-packed platforms in the industry. You can move forward with confidence, knowing your investment is secure for at least the next 12 months.

PRODUCTS

What is the material of the products?

All our tap products are chosen with excellence and durability in mind.

  • Vinyl Rounds: Made with premium, tear-resistant vinyl, these are technically a sticker, but a very heavy duty one.
  • Acrylic Cards and Loops : Many of the tap products are made from acrylic plastic - just like your credit card.
  • All the adhesive products have 3M™ 467MP Adhesive, which is top-tier in the industry. This is the same adhesive trusted in high-performance applications like precision die-cut parts, so you can trust they’ll hold up in a high-traffic church environment.

We recommend ordering a sample pack in order to experience the colors and products in your local context.

Why do you recommend the 3-inch Round Tap Cards?

Many companies default to 4-inch round stickers, but as pastors ourselves, we found that size to be too visually dominant in a worship setting. We intentionally recommend the 3-inch round because it strikes the right balance: it’s large enough to be clearly visible, but small enough to remain subtle and respectful of the sanctuary’s aesthetic. It communicates clearly—without shouting.

Can you send out a sample so we can see and feel the rounds and cards?

Yes, visit the VisitorTap website to order our sample pack.  The VisitorTap Sample Pack includes two full versions of our products—each with embedded NFC chips—so you can experience both the tap functionality and the quality of our materials. Sample packs include one white and one black version to help churches visualize the best color in their space. The cost is currently $15 and includes shipping and handling.

How do tap products hold up when stacking chairs?

We recommend using our tear-resistant vinyl rounds for chairs that get stacked. They’re thinner and more flexible, making them less likely to catch on other chairs compared to thicker acrylic options. The industrial-strength 3M adhesive is designed for long-lasting durability, but if your chairs are stacked often, you can always choose to add extra adhesive to provide a stronger grip.

Of course, life happens. There’s always a small chance one might get scuffed, pulled off, or—let’s be honest—yanked by a bored kid mid-sermon (we’ve all been there!). That’s why we encourage every church to keep a few extra on hand. If one ever gets damaged, it takes just seconds to peel and replace—quick, easy, and you’re back in business.

What is the Custom Order Print Option?

Churches can choose to customize any of the VisitorTap products.  Custom orders require a minimum order of 500 and then any additional cards must be bought in 100 unit increments.  Churches must submit their own design using our official Adobe Illustrator templates. While we don’t offer design services, our templates make it easy for any designer to get it right the first time. Your cards will look exactly how your church looks—bold, branded, and excellent.

Custom orders require 8 weeks for production and shipping. To get started, select the Custom Print option at check-out and make your payment and we’ll email you a link to submit your order. Click here for more details.

TAPTREE

What is so great about the built-in Taptree tool?

A Taptree tool allows churches to create a customizable menu of links —a single place where you can display all the important links your church community needs.

What sets the built-in Taptree apart is its simplicity and flexibility. There’s no need for extra software or outside services—it’s all right in your VisitorReach dashboard. You can fully customize your Taptree to match your church’s brand and update links instantly whenever you need. Add as many links as you want, so people can easily find everything from your giving app and prayer request form to sermon notes and event sign-ups.

Plus, you can create multiple Taptrees for different occasions;  for example, one for Sunday services, another for midweek youth gatherings and other for special gatherings like conferences and women’s events.  This way, you’re always guiding people to the next right step, no matter when or where they connect.

If I edit one Taptree will it be updated on all Tap products?

Yes—this is one of the features that makes Tap so powerful and easy to manage. When you update a Taptree, that change is instantly reflected across every Tap Card or Sticker linked to that specific Taptree. You don’t have to reprint anything or make multiple updates—one edit updates them all in real time. It’s a simple, centralized way to keep your information current and your guest experience consistent, no matter how many tap points you have throughout your campus.

Are there any limitations to the number of taptrees an organization creates?

No. Whether you want a unique Taptree for your main services, student ministry, kids check-in, outreach events, or even seasonal campaigns, you have the freedom to build as many as you need. This gives you the flexibility to tailor content and calls-to-action for every ministry, moment, or environment—while managing everything from one simple dashboard. It’s a scalable solution built to grow with your vision.

TECHNOLOGY

What is the technology behind Tap Cards?

VisitorTap uses NFC (Near Field Communication)—the same trusted tech behind Apple Pay and contactless credit cards. It works instantly without apps, WiFi, or cell signal. Our cards are hard-coded, which means the tap action is fast and reliable. There’s no risk of links breaking due to internet outages, server errors, or bad connections. It just works—every time.

What smartphones are compatible with VisitorTap?

Any IOS or Android phones with NFC chips (phones after the year 2018) are compatible with VisitorTap. Some android phones will require the NFC chip to be manually activated, but this is less common. NFC chips are typically located at the top of the iPhones and in the middle back of Android devices.

Can Tap cards malfunction? How will I know if there is one card that is not working?

We recommend that a person uses a phone to confirm cards are connected to the VisitorReach Dashboard as soon as they arrive. Once that is confirmed, the card/sticker would only malfunction if it was tampered with or damaged in some way. Then, you would simply replace the card. We recommend purchasing extra cards because accidents happen. If a card were ever physically damaged or lost—just like a QR code—it’s a simple replacement. No different than replacing a business card or a damaged sign.

Most often a card not working is due to user error - the link was entered incorrectly in the dashboard, the user tapped the card too quickly, or does not have the NFC setting activated on their phone.

Do the cards use Wifi?

No, Tap Cards don’t require WiFi, cell service, or a live server to function.

Each card uses NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, which is the same secure, contactless tech used in things like Apple Pay or tap-to-pay credit cards. That makes Tap incredibly reliable in any environment. It's simple, smart, and built to just work—every time.

Can this technology interfere with hearing aides?

It’s extremely unlikely.  Most hearing aids today are well-shielded against common signals like Bluetooth, WiFi, and NFC. Tap Cards use the same low-frequency tech as tap-to-pay systems. While it’s technically possible for NFC to cause minor interference with some older or more sensitive hearing aids, it’s extremely rare.

Do tap cards work with iPads?

Tap technology was built with mobile phones in mind. While some iPads support NFC, the functionality can vary based on the model and iOS version.

Currently, only certain iPad Pro models (2023 and newer) support limited NFC functionality, and even then, they may not trigger tap actions like an iPhone or Android device does.

The Taptree tool is also designed for mobile devices and therefore, may not scale correctly on an ipad.

Will applying a card or sticker directly on metal surfaces affect the product?

Metal can disrupt the functionality of NFC stickers. Certain metals can interfere with the function of electromagnetic field technology used for communication between the tag and a smartphone. When a NFC tag is adhered directly on metal, the signal can be either disrupted or completely blocked, causing the tag to become unresponsive. Sometimes velcro is enough of a buffer to avoid the interference, but we can’t guarantee it.

SUPPORT

What support do you provide to VisitorTap Customers?

Most technical questions we receive are about setup, and for that we’ve got you covered with a robust Knowledge Base and direct email access (visitortap@visitorreach.com) to our technical team. We’re here to make sure everything runs smoothly, so you can stay focused on what matters most—people.

What technical support do you provide on the weekend if there is an issue?

We have not found a reason to offer live weekend tech support. VisitorTap runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS)—the same gold-standard infrastructure trusted by 90% of the tech world. Since launching, we’ve had zero system outages.

More specifically, Tap Cards do not rely on a server, internet, or WiFi reliability to function. They keep working even if the internet or power grid doesn’t. They are activated by the user's mobile phone.  If a card ever gets damaged or misplaced, it’s as simple to replace as a business card.
