How to use the Category Feature
Watch this video to learn how to use the Category feature or read below:
The Categories feature in VisitorTap allows you to easily organize and manage your Tap products, especially when managing multiple decks. Categories simplify how you view, edit, and direct your Tap cards, making it easier to maintain order and consistency across your organization.
What Are Categories?
Categories are organizational sections that allow you to group Tap products by criteria like purpose, location, or ministry.
Examples:
- “Auditorium”
- “Small Groups”
- “Kids Ministry”
Each Category can be assigned a target destination—either a website URL or a TapTree. All Tap cards within a category will follow the category's destination, simplifying setup and reducing potential errors.
Note: If a card is part of a category, the category’s destination will override any individual link set on that card.
Uncategorized Cards
- Cards not assigned to any category will retain their individual destinations.
- These appear alphabetically at the bottom of your Tap list.
Create a New Category
- Navigate to VisitorTap.
- Select Manage Categories from the sidebar.
- Click “Create New Category.”
- Enter a Category Name (e.g., Auditorium, Small Groups, Kids Ministry).
- Choose a Target Destination — either a URL link or TapTree.
- (Optional) Pick a color to visually distinguish your category.
- Click Create to save your new category.
Edit a Category
- Under Manage Categories, select the category you want to update.
- Edit the name, link, TapTree, or category color.
- Confirm your changes — all cards in this category will automatically update.
Delete a Category
To delete a category:
- Select the deck you would like to edit.
- Under Category, select “No Category” and “Update.”
- Uncategorized cards appear at the bottom of your Tap list, sorted alphabetically.
Assign Tap Products to a Category
- Navigate to VisitorTap.
- Select the desired deck.
- Assign to a specific category and “Update.”
Switching Between Views
You can toggle between two main views:
- Category View: Displays your Tap products grouped by category (great for a high-level overview).
- Exit Category View: Shows each Tap deck separately for detailed management.
