How to use the VisitorTap Category Feature

Watch this video to learn how to use the Category feature or read below:

Categories help you organize your Tap products into meaningful groups—such as by purpose, location, or ministry. This makes it much easier to manage your Tap cards, especially when you're working with multiple decks.

Examples of Categories:

  • Auditorium
  • Small Groups
  • Kids Ministry

Each category can be assigned a destination, either a website URL or a TapTree. All Tap cards within that category will automatically follow the category’s destination, simplifying setup and reducing the chance of errors.

Note: If a card is part of a category, the category’s destination will override any individual link set on that card.

Uncategorized Tap Products

Uncategorized tap products that are not assigned to any category will retain their individual destinations and will appear alphabetically at the bottom of your Tap list.

How to Create and Manage Categories

Create a New Category

  1. Navigate to VisitorTap.
  2. Select Manage Categories from the sidebar.
  3. Click “Create New Category.”
  4. Enter a Category Name (e.g., Auditorium, Small Groups, Kids Ministry).
  5. Choose a Target Destination — either a URL link or TapTree.
  6. (Optional) Pick a color to visually distinguish your category.
  7. (Optional) Rearrange links by dragging and dropping items into the desired order, then selecting Done Reordering to save the changes.
  8. Click Create to save your new category.

Edit a Category

  1. Under Manage Categories, select the category you want to update.
  2. Edit the name, link, TapTree, or category color.
  3. Confirm your changes — all cards in this category will automatically update.

Delete a Category

To delete a category:

  1. Select the deck you would like to edit.
